What is cycle syncing and why every woman should know about it
May 2026

Cycle syncing is one of the most powerful tools a woman can have — and most of us were never taught it existed.
What is cycle syncing
Cycle syncing is the practice of adapting your lifestyle — what you eat, how you move, how you work, how you rest and how you care for your body — to align with the four distinct phases of your menstrual cycle. The term was popularised by hormone health expert Alisa Vitti, and it is based on a simple but profound truth: your hormones shift dramatically throughout the month, and those shifts affect almost every system in your body.
Unlike men, who operate on a roughly 24-hour hormonal cycle, women operate on a 28 to 35 day cycle. This means our energy, mood, creativity, metabolism, social needs, skin condition and even our pain tolerance change significantly from week to week. Cycle syncing is simply the practice of working with those changes rather than against them.
The four phases and what they mean
Your menstrual cycle is divided into four phases. Each one has a distinct hormonal profile that creates a different inner landscape.
Phase I — Menstrual — Days 1 to 5. Estrogen and progesterone are at their lowest. Your body is releasing the uterine lining. Energy is low, sensitivity is high. This is a time for rest, stillness and deep nourishment. Your lips and skin need gentle, fragrance-free care.
Phase II — Follicular — Days 6 to 13. Estrogen begins to rise. Energy returns, mood lifts, creativity flows. This is a time for starting new projects, social connection and optimism. Your skin starts to glow and your lips respond beautifully to brightening, light formulas.
Phase III — Ovulation — Days 14 to 16. Estrogen peaks and luteinizing hormone surges. You are at your most energetic, confident and magnetic. Your skin genuinely looks different — more luminous, your lips appear fuller. This is the time for celebration, connection and your most glamorous lip oil.
Phase IV — Luteal — Days 17 to 28. Progesterone rises then falls. Energy begins to slow, sensitivity increases, the body prepares for either pregnancy or menstruation. This is a time for slowing down, nourishing deeply and being gentle with yourself. Your skin and lips need calming, balancing care.
Why Saulué was built on this
When we created Saulué, we asked a simple question: if your skin and lips genuinely change throughout the month, why does every lip oil treat them the same?
The answer was that nobody had thought to do it differently. So we did.
Four lip oils. Four formulas. Each one designed for a specific hormonal phase. Not because it sounds beautiful — though it does — but because it is the most logical, most caring approach to lip care that exists.
Cycle syncing your lip care is the smallest, most elegant entry point into listening to your body's rhythm. Start here. The rest follows naturally.
